The Snail Farming Institute actively collaborates with Italian universities in research projects and, on an international level, supports many cultural initiatives by providing its analyses and expertise.
INTERNATIONAL SNAIL FARMING INSTITUTE
The International Snail Farming Institute is born in Cherasco, in Piedmont.
A pioneering institution, it is the cornerstone of what will become in 2021 the Snail Farming Hub.
An admirable project that has required 50 years to establish itself with credibility and success in the agricultural entrepreneurial world, both nationally and internationally.
ANE
The ANE National Snail Breeders Association is born, which in 2021 reaches 700 members.
It is the only legally recognized Italian professional association in dialogue with the State, Institutions, Universities, and Research Institutes.
It provides advice and assistance and guarantees the collection of live snails and slime production.
Since 2016 Simone Sampò has been the President.
THE FOOD SPECIALIST
- The FOOD SPECIALIST srl is born.

THE SNAIL BREEDING SPECIFICATION CHERASCO METHOD
- For the first time since the birth of the International
Institute of Heliciculture, the BREEDING
SPECIFICATION Snail Cherasco Method created in
collaboration with UNISG University of Gastronomic
Sciences is included to address too many failed
projects.
- It deals with the dissemination of the Snail Cherasco
Method system and its certification in the Supply
Chain.
- It organizes Free Information Days and offers
Technical Training Courses.
- It organizes Conferences, Round Tables, provides Ongoing Assistance remotely and in person.

LLC International Institut of Heliciculture in Tbilisi
- The 98% owned by Lumacheria Italiana is the
first subsidiary of the group.
- It exports the know-how of Snail Method Cherasco
- Follows the realization of plants in Georgia
- It deals with the promotion and marketing of snail products
And this is how even snail farming has evolved, in almost 50 years, from a marginal activity, little known, risky also in some respects due to limited knowledge of the biological and zootechnical needs of the mollusk, to a real agricultural activity, increasingly widespread and practiced.
